Albert Jacob "Chips" Bieber was born the son of Fredrich and Rosina (Hausauer) Bieber, January 4, 1916, in Java, South Dakota. He died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at his home in Guttenberg. Albert graduated from Java High School in 1934, and the University of Spearfish, South Dakota, with a teaching degree; served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the John Deere Dubuque Works in 1979. On June 26, 1948, he was united in marriage with Marie Link at St. Marys Catholic Church in Guttenberg. Chips was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and Guttenberg American Legion Post 373 for many years. He enjoyed the river, boating, traveling, wintering in Florida and Texas, and his family meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife-Marie; four daughters-Sonya (Fred) Bush of Colesburg, Diane Bieber of Cedar Rapids, Jane (Mike) Buchheim of Colesburg, and Terry (Michael) Boardman of Colesburg; four grandchildren-Debra (Matt) Rider, Brian (Melissa) Bush, Stephanie Buchheim, and Matthew Buchheim; two great-grandchildren-Jacob Rider and Timmy Rider; one sister-in-law-Mary Bieber of Selby, South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
