PETERSBURG, IOWA Allan “Bud” Koelker, 86, of Petersburg, Iowa, died peacefully at his home on Friday, January 13, 2017. Visitation will be held from 2 – 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 5 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate. Bud was born on the family farm east of Petersburg, Iowa on May 25, 1930 and lived and worked there all his life. He was the youngest of Anton and Catherine (Kramer) Koelker’s 8 children. He married Marian Bockenstedt on June 6, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colesburg, Iowa. Together they farmed on the Koelker home farm for over 66 years, all of their married lives. Bud loved farming, gardening, fishing, polka dancing and most of all his family. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and belonged to the SS Peter & Paul parish his entire life. Survivors include 4 sons: Chuck (Marilee) Koelker of New Vienna, Terry (Joyce) Koelker, Mike (JoAnn) Koelker and Ron (Sandy) Koelker, daughter-in-law, Kathy (Tim) Sweeney, all of Dyersville; grandchildren: Barry (Carrie) Koelker, Danielle (Bruce) Ling, Angel (Jason) Kelchen and Carmen (Terry) Dunkel, Jodi (Brandon) Kelley, Rob (Tara) Koelker and Jeff (Annie) Koelker, Jesse (Molly) Koelker, Shelli (Scott) Wilson and Matt (Lindsey) Koelker, Nick (Nicole) Koelker, Leah (Casey) Lechtenberg and Jenna Koelker, and Terra, Brooke and Trent Koelker; 30 great-grandchildren; in-laws: Fred (Barb) Bockenstedt of Levenworth, WA, Dennis (Judy) Bockenstedt of Petersburg and Dean (Rosalee) Bockenstedt of Edgewood, Blanche (Albert) Schulte of New Vienna, Leona (Marv) Tauke of Dyersville, Jean (Ken) Kramer of New Port Richey, FL and Phyllis (Jim) Tigges of LasVegas, NV, Lois Bockenstedt of Edgewood and Ambrose “Butch” Wegmann of Delhi. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marian in September 2016, 2 children: Theresa in infancy and Todd Koelker in July 2005, siblings: Evelyn Koelker, Edmund (Clara) Koelker, Lucille (Victor) Vaske, Lawrence (Ruth) Koelker, Mildred Koelker, LuVern (Anna Mae) Koelker, Alma (Clete) Vaske and Cora (Charles) Gerken, in-laws: Leo Bockenstedt, Patsy Wegmann.
