Aloys J. Berns

Aloys J. Berns, age 76, of Garnavillo, died Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Guttenberg Care Center from Alzheimers disease. He was born March 2, 1937, to Louis and Clara (Harter) Berns on the family farm near Garnavillo. Al graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1955, farmed with his family and was a trucker for many years. On May 21, 1958, he was united in marriage with Rosemary Bonert at St. Peter and Paul Church in Petersburg, Iowa. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosie; one daughter, Mary Berns; three sons, Richard Berns, Michael (Cherrie) Berns , and Martin (Krista) Berns ; three grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) Huber, Ryan (Morgan) Berns, and Jeremiah Berns; one great-grandson, Jayden Huber; and one great-granddaughter on her way; three sisters, Laura Sudmeier, Mary Lou Krapfl, and Helene Sudmeier; one brother, Louis Berns; brother in law- Larry (Sue) Bonert and many other relative and friends.In Lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, the family has requested that memorials be sent to St. Josephs Church, Iowa Hospice or the Guttenberg Care Center.Visitation: 2 - 8 PM Friday August 23, 2013 at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo and one hour berfore service at church.Funeral Service: 10 AM Saturday August 24, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Garnavillo, IowaInterment: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo Service Information A service summary is not available
