Angeline F Berns

Angeline Berns, age 87, of Garnavillo, IA, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on October 8, 1928 in Garnavillo, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Eglseder) Schmelzer. Angeline received her education locally and worked in the Garnavillo area. On October 16, 1951, she was united in marriage with Robert Berns at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo. For many years, Angeline farmed with her husband and made their home together. She spent a great deal of time working in her garden from which she became an expert in canning her produce as well as canning beef. She made the best strawberry jam, was an avid quilter and was known as everybodys aunt. Angeline is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; sister Irene Behrend; brothers, Oliver, Lorraine & Kenneth Schmelzer.
