Armella "Amy" Matt

Armella "Amy" (Frommelt) Matt was born the daughter of Raymond and Amelia (Burr) Frommelt October 30, 1927, in Guttenberg. She died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center. Amy graduated from St. Marys Catholic School, attended Clarke College and Iowa teachers college. She taught school until being united in marriage with Louis Matt III on February 27, 1954, at St. Marys Church in Guttenberg. She resided on the farm as wife, mother and homemaker and returned to teaching for Garnavillo Community Schools until her retirement. She enjoyed estate sales, reading, traveling, and was president of the Garnavillo School board during merger negotiations with Guttenberg School. Survivors include her husband Louis Matt III; two daughters, Michaele Matt of Randolph, Wisconsin and Inda (Joe) Pawlak of Germantown, Wisconsin; three sons, Bruce Matt of Garnavillo, Louis (Connie) Matt IV of St. Olaf, and Gary (Rae Marie) Matt of South Bend, Indiana; four sisters, Jeanette (Robert) Schreiber of Dubuque, Rosemary Matt of Garnavillo, Esther (Francis) Goedken of Zwingle, and Ruth (Cyril) VonFumetti of Dubuque; and five grandchildren.
