Armella Nuehring

Armella Elizabeth (Nieland) Nuehring, age 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Manor Care Health Services in Dubuque, IA. She was born on October 6, 1924, in Luxemburg IA, the daughter of Bernard and Lena (Welter) Nieland Jr. Armella attended school at St. Joseph in Garnavillo to 8th grade in 1943. In 1947, Armella worked for the Egg Plant in Guttenberg where she also married Kenneth Nuehring on February 11, 1947, at St. Marys Church in Guttenberg. Armella helped farm until 1961 where she went to work at Jensen Speaker Factory till 1971. In 1972, Armella worked for Ertls in Dyersville for 1 month and then she was employed by Nordic Forge in Guttenberg until her retirement in 1984. She helped her husband Kenneth on the Nuehring farm for 45 years. When she could make time, Armella enjoyed using her gift of making afghans and crocheting personal items for her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. Surviving are her daughter in law Jeanne Nuehring-Stecher; two grandchildren, Julie Konzen and Kevin Nuehring; two great grandchildren, Emily & Lauren Konzen; one sister, Rosemary (Gordon) Neumann of Dubuque; one brother, Ray (Dana) Nieland of Hazel Green Wis; four sisters in law, Ilo Rodenberg of Garnavillo, IA, Norma Lehne of Monticello Wis, Mildred (Norbert) Dettman of Luana IA, Coletta Nieland of Guttenberg and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Harold and two brothers, Lavern and Elmer Nieland.Armella and her family would like to personally thank Marilyn Svestka for her loving care over the years.
