Barb Christianson

Barbara L. (Kurth) Christianson, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on September 30, 1931 in rural Farmersburg to Lester and Esther (Klieforth) Kurth. Barb began her education from the local country school and ended at the Farmersburg High School graduating with the class of 1949. For 25 years, Barb worked at the Guttenberg Care Center and raised four children. Barb loved working in her outdoor landscape by planting flowers. She also enjoyed sewing, reading and baking sweets. She was a true cat lover at heart. Barb belonged to the Eagles Club in Guttenberg for many years and she had a firm belief in God and the wonder of nature. Barb is survived by her four children, Steven (Janet) Christianson of Garnavillo, Paul (Connie) Christianson of Guttenberg, Kathy Judkins of Guttenberg and Jerry (Shirley) Christianson of Garnavillo; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren; one sister, Ethelyn Berns of Elkader and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Elmer Radloff; sister, Karen Wright and brother, Vernon Kurth.Visitation: Sunday 2:00 - 5:00 P.M.
