Bernice Maiers

Bernice was born on June 16, 1925 in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Elenora (Maiers) Gaul. She married Vincent Maiers on February 19, 1946 at Luxemburg, Iowa. They farmed in the Holy Cross area until retirement in 1980. She was employed at the Holy Cross School as a substitute cook and in house keeping. Bernice was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors and was very devoted to her family and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Vincent. 6 sons, Ronald (Therese) Maiers of Holy Cross, IA, Dennis (Patty) Maiers of West Des Moines, IA, James, Gary and Mark Maiers all of Holy Cross and Dale (Joan) Maiers of Duluth, MN. 1 daughter, Joyce Bettcher of Farley, IA. 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. 1 brother, Leon (Jean) Gaul of Dubuque, IA, 3 sisters, Julia (Bill) Welter of Dubuque, IA, Mildred (Louis) Recker of Holy Cross, IA and Sister Mary Ann Gaul of LaCrosse, WI She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elenora Gaul and brother, Alvin Gaul.
