Bernice Scheffert

Bernice Mary (Matt) Scheffert was born the daughter of Albert and Wilhelmina (Meyer) Matt on March 11, 1915 on the family farm near Garber. She passed away Friday, August 10, 2007, at her home in rural Garber. Bernice attended the local country school and was a homemaker for many years. On May 2, 1939 she was united in marriage with Reynold Scheffert at St. Michaels Church in Garber. For many years they farmed together and raised three sons. Bernice was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Michaels Church. She also enjoyed playing cards, spending time in her garden and cooking. Her great passion was for making quilts; in fact she made quilts for several people over the years. Bernice will be missed by her three sons; Gail (Cheryl) Scheffert, Leland (Ginny) Scheffert and Mark Scheffert all of Garber; eight grandchildren, Loren, Randy, Roxann, Adria, Amanda, Sara, Laura and Scott; ten great-grandchildren, Audreanna, A.J., Adam, Hope, Derrick, Kailee, Carter, Isabell, Alexis and Slade. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son Frances in infancy, three brothers, Earl, Arthur and Lloyd; three sisters, Marie Berns, Viola Berns and a sister in infancy.Visitation: Monday 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
