Bernita Leliefeld

Bernita (Moser) Leliefeld, age 81, of Guttenberg, IA, died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. She was born the daughter of Clem and Elsie (Hansel) Moser on January 28, 1930, in Osterdock. Bernita received her education locally and later received her teaching degree where she taught in a one room school. On August 12, 1952, she was united in marriage with Bernard Leliefeld in Garnavillo. Together they were blessed with seven children. For over 30 years, Bernita achieved many milestones in sales for the Avon Company. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, United Methodist Women, Guttenberg School Board for over 10 years, she volunteered at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital gift shop and the local food shelf pantry and loved talking and visiting with people. She was a charter member of the Kitchen Band and would often play music at the Guttenberg Care Center but most of all she adored spending time with her family who brought the most joy to her life. Bernita will be forever missed by her children, Dennis (Nel) Leliefeld, James Leliefeld, Kathy Phelan, Kevin (Beth) Leliefeld, Terry (Mara) Leliefeld and Larry (Rona) Leliefeld; 16 grandchildren; son in law Bruce Obershaw and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bernard; one daughter LuAnn Obershaw, son in law Denny Phelan; four siblings, Delores Lewin, Selma Zittergruen, Delbert and Leo Moser.In Lieu of flowers memorials for Bernita may be sent to 118 Skyline Dr. Guttenberg, IA 52052.Visitation: Wednesday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
