LUXEMBURG, IOWA Bertha M. Goebel, 100, of Luxemburg, died Friday, April 10, 2015, at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque surrounded by her family. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 3:00. Friends may continue to call after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg where a Mass of Christian Burial will commence at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Carl Ries will officiate. Bertha was born January 30, 1915, in Lancaster, Wisconsin the daughter of Paul and Anna (Eckstein) Fuerstenberg. She married Raymond Goebel on February 8, 1938, in Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they farmed near Luxemburg until retiring in 1973. Bertha enjoyed bingo, cross stitching, visiting, traveling, gardening and going to church. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Rosary Society. Survivors include her children: Dennis (Barbara) of Dubuque, Joyce (Laurie Hess) of West Bend, WI; 3 grandchildren: Chad (fiancé LeeAnn Hauser) of Cedar Rapids, Chris of Dubuque, Ann (David) Moore of Chandler, AZ; 3 great grandchildren: Carson Goebel, Elisabeth and Adeleine Moore, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond in 1992, siblings: Frank (Pearl) Fuerstenberg, Clarence (Clara) Fuerstenberg, Ed (Clara) Fuerstenberg, Arthur Fuerstenberg in childhood, Louie (Dorothy) Fuerstenberg, George (Annette) Fuerstenberg and Frances (Laverne) Fry; in-laws: Martha (Hugo) Lechtenberg, Irene (Harold) Block, Helen (Stanley) Hatch, Othilda (Jim) Sherman, Virginette (Loras) Hosch, Gene (Helen) Goebel, Louise (Art) Ries, Larry (Marie) Goebel, Leander (Gertrude) Goebel. Special thanks to Stonehill Care Center, especially the staff of 2 South, and Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful care of our family. Memorials are preferred to Stonehill Care Center or Hospice of Dubuque.
