Betty Jean Hansel

Betty Jean Hansel, age 92, of Guttenberg, IA, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on September 20, 1922 in Colesburg IA, the daughter of Glenn and Blanche Raymond. On May 27, 1939, Betty was united in marriage with Donald Hansel Sr. Betty farmed with her husband for many years in various places in Clayton County. After moving to Guttenberg, she was employed as a CNA at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital as well as the Guttenberg Care Center. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and quilting. She quilted with St. Marys Church quilting group for many years. Survivors include one son, Donald (Sue) Hansel Jr., of Guttenberg; one daughter, Linda (Bruce) Bothwell of Dubuque; two grandsons, Kris (Rhonda) Moser and Brett (Gwen) Moser both of Dubuque; four great grandsons, Jason (fianc Lisa Jaeger) Bechler, Sam Moser, Sean Moser and Stuart Moser all of Dubuque and one brother Warren (Gert) Raymond of Durant. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on January 25, 2002, two sisters, Ula Mae Kickbush and Luetta Raymond; one son-in-law, Dale Moser. The family would like to extend there gratitude and appreciation to the healthcare providers at the Guttenberg Care Center and St. Jude Hospice for the level of care and compassion shown to their mother.Visitation: Tuesday 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
