Betty Ruth (Troester) Moser, age 87, of Guttenberg, IA, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born into the family of Paul Emil and Flossie Mae (Friedlein) Troester, on October 28, 1927, on the family farm, north of the Turkey River in Millville Township. Betty was baptized in 1928, in the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Guttenberg and later Pastor Coovert confirmed her in the same church on March 29, 1942. Betty graduated from the Friedlein Country School and Guttenberg High School in May of 1945. She was unique in that she was neither tardy nor absent the entire thirteen years of her schooling. On January 17, 1947, she was united in marriage with Donald R. Moser at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Rev. Eshbaugh presiding During her lifetime, Betty taught country schools, worked for the Guttenberg Press, taught in the Guttenberg Elementary School, worked at the Muter Factory, Mackey Supermarket, and Moser Family Pharmacy. Later she obtained her nursing certificate from NICC and worked many years for the Clayton County Homemaker Organization. Betty enjoyed visiting Europe, South America, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, a variety of the contiguous states, taking cruises, and visited many of the National Parks. Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years Donald R. Moser, her children, Jay (Kay Benson) Moser of Elkader, Wynette (Stanley) Koehn of Guttenberg, Tab (Deborah Rodenberg) Moser of Altoona and Stacy (Kari Tangeman) Moser of Elkader; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Jenna) Moser, Jonathon (Cheri) Moser, Trevor (Melissa) Koehn, Malissa Koehn (and special friend Jeff,) Aaron (Emily) Moser, Nicholas and Samantha Moser; eight great grandchildren, Brett and Kaitlyn Koehn, Mariah, Taryn, Trace and Gretel Moser; Kenley and Adelaide Moser and several nieces and nephews.
