Betty Powers

Betty Luann (Kolash) Powers, age 76, of Saint Olaf formerly of Guttenberg IA, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals. She was born on March 16, 1934 in Delaware, the daughter of Leo and Helen (Wolter) Kolash. For many years Betty worked as a cook for St. Marys School. Later she cooked for the Eagles Club and most recently she helped out at the Stadium on weekends. On May 8, 1954, Betty was married to Eugene Powers at Holy Trinity Church in La Crosse Wis. Betty enjoyed playing cards, cooking, telling stories and spending time with children and grandchildren. Betty is survived by her children, Judy (Dan) Nielsen of Saint Olaf, IA, Mary Powers of Tacoma, Wash., Patrick (Rose) Powers of Guttenberg and Royce (Jeanie) Hansel of Elkader; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
