Robert "Bob" William Aulwes was born the son of Donald and Irene (Schroeder) Aulwes on July 1, 1932, near Guttenberg. He died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Bob received his education at #7 White Country School on Wayman Creek outside of Garber. He enlisted in the Army on October 7, 1952, and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Infantry Sgt on October 6, 1954. On November 16, 1955 he was united in marriage with Lois Glawe in Elkader. Bob was a lifetime member of the Amvets. Bob worked mostly in the carpentry business from Hilton, Trademark, Galaxy and All American Homes until his retirement on July 1, 1997. His sons followed in their fathers footsteps. He loved fishing and always had a fish story, but never told anyone his fishing spot. Pronto bull sessions with Carla and the gang, cruising around town (mostly to see if anyone found out his spot), and his family were things Bob enjoyed. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois; three daughters, Beverly Aulwes, Kim (Randy) Arneson, both of Guttenberg, and Sandy (Tim) Meisner of Colesburg; three sons, Rick (Linda) Aulwes, Ron (Mary) Aulwes, and Brian (Christine) Aulwes all of Guttenberg; two brothers, Harold (Gloria) Aulwes of Garber, and Kenny (Kay) Aulwes of Edgewood; seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with two more on the way and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Amanda, one sister and brother-in-law Betty (Tommy) Phelan.Visitation: Tuesday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
