Brian H. Ahlrichs

MONTICELLO, IOWA

Brian Henry Ahlrichs, 55, passed away in the company of his family at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics on Friday, December 23, 2023.

Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Monticello, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Ss. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Monticello, Iowa. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate.

Brian is survived by his wife of 28 years, Roberta (Schutz) Ahlrichs; children, Benjamin Ahlrichs (Fiancee, Katharine Benya) of Iowa City, Bridget Ahlrichs of Iowa City, Samantha Ahlrichs of Lake Geneva, WI, Sophia Ahlrichs of Iowa City, Hannah Ahlrichs of Iowa City, Harrison Ahlrichs of Monticello, Lydia Ahlrichs of Monticello; and many extended family members and friends.

Brian was born in Langworthy, Iowa to Donald and Cathy (Ludwick) Ahlrichs on November 16, 1968. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1986. Brian married Roberta on May 21, 1994. Brian worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, most notably at the Anamosa State Penitentiary for 31 years. As a recent retiree, Brian enjoyed working in his shop, spending time with his family, and watching his favortie Western films.

Brian will be best remembered through his lively storeytelling, his fondness for chocolate, and his unconditional love for his wife and children. His legacy lives through his children, who remember their father’s endless love and support in all of their various activities.
