Cody (Burdette) Kimball, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on January 1, 1927 on the home farm near Manchester IA to Delbert and Kathleen (Sevey) Kimball. Cody was a WWII veteran serving from June 2, 1945 till he was honorably discharged on February 8, 1947. On July 2, 1954 he was united in marriage with Shirley Ann Hansel at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. Three children were born to this union. Cody worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for 32 years till he retired in 1984. Cody enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking especially building his home. He was a member of the American Legion. Traveling, watching animals, listening to the birds, reading, especially Wyoming Wildlife magazine and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the things Cody greatly enjoyed. Cody is survived by his wife of 55 years Shirley of Guttenberg; two daughters, Patricia (Phillip) Kulper and Dianna (Gary Randall) Backes both of Guttenberg; one son, James (Brenda DuVall) Kimball of Medford, Wis.; six grandchildren, Adam Vorwald, Devan Vorwald, Brent (Shelby) Kulper, Blain (Brooke) Kulper, Nicole DuVall and Colten DuVall; two great grandchildren, Phoenix Vorwald and Dylan Kulper; one brother, Art (Alo) Kimball of Edgewood.
