Camilla "Millie" Landa Balk Eglseder, age 89, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born on August 21, 1922, in Little Turkey, Winneshiek County to Daniel and Francis (Tupy) Landa. Millie received her education locally graduating from High School. She married Julius Balk on October 24, 1939. Together they raised their children and for many years, Millie made their home. Later in life she worked as a factory assembler. Sadly Julius died on September 18, 1972. Just over four years later, Millie was married to NaValle Eglseder on September 30, 1976 at St. Joseph The Worker Church in Dubuque IA. This union blessed Millie with two more children to love and care for. Millie enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking, canning, playing Bingo, gambling, playing card games, boating and fishing. Some of her accomplishments in life include her outstanding church attendance, and participation with music at church. As a young girl she had to be taught to speak English as Czech was her native language. Millies last nine years have been spent living at the Care Center with Dementia until she was called to heaven by her Lord and Savior. Millie is survived by her husband NaValle Eglseder of Guttenberg; children, Jerry (Donna) Balk, Betty (Ray) Meyer both of Guttenberg, Dean (Mona) Balk of Los Angeles CA, Bonnie (Chuck) Morarend of Dubuque, Dave (Keri) Balk of San Diego CA, John (Karla) Eglseder of Guttenberg and Jerry (Stormy) Eglseder of Bellevue; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Judy Balk; sister in law, Sharon Landa of Waucoma and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Julius Balk; daughter Charlene Balk in infancy, son Harlan Balk on June 8, 2007; brother Wilmer Landa and grandson Dustin Eglseder.In Lieu of flowers and all types of sympathy memorials are requested and can be sent to St. Mary's Catholic School 510 S 2nd St Guttenberg, IA 52052.Visitation: Tuesday 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.
