Carla Mae Ferguson

GUTTENBERG, IOWA

Carla Mae L. Ferguson was called to Heaven, to be with the Lord, March 21, 2023 on her 80th birthday, after years of living with, and battling, several life-debilitating medical conditions.

Carla was born March 21, 1943, in Guttenberg IA, to James and Violetta (Herzog) Moser. Carla grew up on their family farm in Osterdock, IA and graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1961. On March 3, 1962, Carla was united in marriage to Robert Ferguson at St John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.

Carla was definitely a “people person." Carla did day care for many families for many years while raising her and Bob’s two sons, Jim and Scott. During those years, Carla also taught kindergarten Sunday School classes at St John’s Lutheran Church. In later years, Carla worked and managed local retail businesses while sharing her knowledge, wit, and “gift-of-gab” that kept everyone coming back for more. Family and friends were very important to her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bob, of 61 years; sons: Jim (Jennie Gode) Ferguson of Harris MN, Scott (Dawn) Ferguson of Center Point IA; four grandchildren: Truman Ferguson, Samantha (Jerad) Jirak, Andrea Ferguson, and Docker Ferguson; two great-grandchildren: Dahlia and Monroe Jirak; a brother, Bob (Jackie Kieper) Moser; a sister, Jeanie (Dave) Burns; brother and sister in-laws: Linda (Bruce) Bothwell, Norm (Lois) Ferguson, Darlene Hopper, Mary (Carl) Borrett, Len (Roseann) Ferguson, Don Ferguson, Sharon Crumrine, and many nieces and nephews.

Carla was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dale Moser, and a brother-in-law, Lynn Hopper.

Visitation will be held from 3 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home in Guttenberg. Visitation will continue at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg from 9 – 10:45 a.m. prior to funeral services.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial in Guttenberg City Cemetery. Pastor Michael Ashman will officiate.

Fellowship and luncheon will take place at the Guttenberg Municipal Building following the Guttenberg City Cemetery service.
