Carla Ries

NEW VIENNA, IOWA Carla Mae Ries, 63, of New Vienna, Iowa passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at St Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate and Rev. Carl Ries will concelebrate. Carla was born May 7, 1954 and is the daughter of LaVerne “Bud” and Ellen (Hogan) Domeyer. She grew up in Petersburg, Iowa, where she married her high school sweetheart Elmer M. Ries on June 9, 1973. Together they raised their four daughters on the family farm outside of New Vienna. Carla was blessed with 10 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, who kept her busy watching ball games. She will be greatly missed by her family and all the lives she has touched. Survivors include her husband Elmer, children: Shilo (Leroy) Westhoff of Cedar Falls, Shelly (Adam) Jelinek of Marion, Natalie (Jerry) Montgomery of Green Bay, WI, Ashley (Kory) Manternach of Dyersville, 14 grandchildren: Parker, Dallas, Major and Jacody Westhoff; McKade, Ally and Drew Jelinek; Jayden, Tevyn, Jace and Talayla Montgomery; Leigha, Miley and Johnny Manternach, father, LaVerne “Bud” Domeyer of Petersburg, siblings: Dave (Diane) Domeyer of Colesburg, Mary (Dave) Stevens of Dyersville, in-laws: Jayne (Wayne) Meyer of Dyersville, Francis (Pam) Ries of Dubuque, Sharon (Bob) Demmer of Dundee, Elaine (Carl) Burkle and Eldie (Patti) Ries both of Dyersville, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen, one brother, Pat “Petey” Domeyer, father-in-law, Elmer A. Ries and mother-in-law, Alice (Dick) Olberding,and nephews: Jeff and Ryan Ries.
