Carol Allison Eggert, 78, 332 Riverview Road, Guttenberg Iowa, died July 5, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque Iowa. Carol was born December 18, 1934, in Kansas City, MO, to Chase and Eleanor Allison. Her family moved to Davenport, IA where Carol graduated from St. Katheriness High School in 1953. She attended the University of Iowa and later graduated from Kansas City Business College. She married Charles Fred Eggert on June 10, 1955, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Kansas City. She and Fred moved to Cedar Rapids, IA upon Freds graduation from the University Of Iowa College Of Engineering in 1959 and he started working for Collins Radio Co. (Rockwell Collins). Carol received her Accredited Record Technician degree in 1969, and served as Director of Medical Records at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids for 26 years. Carol was involved in many Cedar Rapids organizations including the St. Lukes Auxiliary, Cedar Rapids Junior League, Cedar Rapids Art Association, PEO, as well as the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority Alumni Association. She was a member of the American Medical Records Association and the Iowa Medical Records Association where she served as President and was a board member for many years. Carol and her husband moved to Guttenberg after retiring. They enjoyed traveling, life on the Mississippi River, time with family and friends and winters in Port Aransas, TX. Her hobbies included quilting which she loved doing for family and friends. She also enjoyed making baskets in many shapes and sized. She was an avid reader and was often seen in the Guttenberg Library. Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred; three children, Steven Charles (Lu) Eggert of Iowa City, IA, Karen Lynne (Kentlin) Keebler of Centennial WY, Cathy Ann (Bill) Trower of Weare, NH; grandchildren, Jehnna (Michael) Mahoney of Houston TX, Krista Foster of Laramie, WY, Leah Miller of France, Paul Miller of Nashville, TN, Robert (Anna) Trower of MO, Lisa (Phil) Vogel of CO; seven great grandchildren; sister, Lynne (Dick) Miles of Port Orchard, WA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her. She was cremated on July 7, 2013. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
