Carol Jacobs

Carol Anne Jacobs, age 78, of Guttenberg, IA, was called to heaven on Monday, February 8, 2016, from the Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA. She was born on May 29, 1937, in Colesburg, Iowa, the daughter of Russell "Jack" and Violet (Ross) Schenke. Carol received her education and graduated from the Greeley High School as Valedictorian of her class. On July 17, 1959, Carol was united in marriage with William "Jim" Jacobs at the Zion Methodist Church outside of Colesburg and was later blessed with five children. When Carol was a young girl, she learned how to play the piano and this was a skill she used all her life. She was the organist for the Methodist Church for several years and played for various events in our local communities. Carol was a long time member of the Methodist Church in Guttenberg, She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, Ingleside Club and The Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron. Aside from making a home for her family, Carol truly enjoyed her work as an office manager for the Guttenberg Cable Office and the Guttenberg Care Center. Carol will be forever loved and cherished by her five children, Jeff Jacobs, Dan Jacobs, Doug Jacobs, Sue Jacobs and Sally (Seth) Gilkes; two grandsons, Noah & Thomas Gilkes; sisters in law, Carol Schenke and Mary Ford; brother in law, Walter (Sue) Jacobs and many nieces, nephews and friends.
