Caroline Gladys (Moser) Harbaugh was born one of ten children to Leonard and Golda (Hansel) Moser on June 20, 1932 in Osterdock. She passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. Caroline graduated from the Elkport High School in 1950, and later she earned her nursing degree. In 1953 she was united in marriage with Gerald Harbaugh. To this union they were blessed with four children. They farmed together for many years and Caroline also spent several years as a nurses aid at the Guttenberg Care Center. After divorce she became an LPN where she then worked at the Elkader Hospital and Care Center. Gerald passed away in 1980. She later married Carl Spaw who passed away shortly after their marriage. Caroline was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Vets of WWI, WWI Ladies Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a 4-H leader and a long time dedicated member of St. Johns Church in Garber and the 1st Congregational Church in Edgewood. She volunteered at the Colesburg School for many years and she even received the volunteer award given to her by the Governor of the state of Iowa for her long time dedication to being a volunteer. Caroline was a home nurse for many people over the years and she was a member of the Kitchen Band playing the washboard, kazoo and the spoons. Carolines memory will be forever cherished by her four children, Timothy (Julie) Harbaugh of Elkader , Charlotte Snyder of Coon Rapids, Minn., Jeff (Janet) Harbaugh of Edgewood and Elsie (Todd) Jorgensen of Savage, Minn.; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leila Minger of Garber and Gloria (Larold) Thompson of Elk River Minn; three brothers, Cletus (Sue) Moser of Hawkeye IA, David (Lea) Moser of Dyersville IA, Elwood (Beverly) Moser of Cedar Rapids and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Gerald Harbaugh and Carl Spaw; one great-granddaughter Cadence Snyder; two sisters, Elsie and Shirley and two brothers Theodore and Carson.Visitation: 4:00 - 8:00 P.M.
