MONTICELLO, IOWA Carolyn E. (Peak) Stadtmueller, 70, of Monticello passed away Monday, February 9, 2015, at her home. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello with burial in Prairie Hill Cemetery, in Castle Grove Township, rural Monticello. Pastor Darryl Larson will officiate. Carolyn was born on February 24, 1944, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Evelyn (Miller) Peak. Carolyn graduated from the Gilman Community School and the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education. Upon receiving this degree, she taught third grade in the Cedar Rapids school system. Carolyn and Richard Stadtmueller were married July 5, 1969, in the Grinnell Christian Church. They honey-mooned in Maine. Carolyn then taught second grade at Carpenter School in Monticello. Rich and Carolyn are members of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard, daughter, Kimberly, and son, Craig and wife, Lisa, all of Monticello. Rich and Carolyn have two grandchildren: Jessica -8 and Brandt -4; 2 sisters: Sandra Tokle of Grinnell and Paulette Knoll of Waukee, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Sturtz, and a brother, Edward Peak. Carolyn enjoyed disking the field and hauling corn and soybeans in the fall while Rich combined and took care of the farm and machinery. Over the years, Rich and Carolyn enjoyed a number of travels: Hancher trips, a farm tour of Brazil, two trips to Australia and one to New Zealand. Kim and Craig enjoyed traveling as well. A favorite family vacation was San Francisco and Washington D.C.; and all those trips to the Iowa State Fair! We had our challenges and many blessings. To have a Heavenly Home is gain. Memorials are preferred to Camp Courageous of Iowa.
