Cecil Raymond Stone, age 94, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on March 9, 1917 in Mt. Auburn Iowa to Ray and Nina (Schlarbaum) Stone Cecil graduated from the Mt. Auburn High School and served his country proudly in the United States Armed Forces. He spent 30 years working as a welder for the Harnischferger Corporation in Cedar Rapids until his retirement in 1980. On November 23, 1974, Cecil was united in marriage to Ivanelle Miller at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. They enjoyed spending time together especially dancing. Cecil enjoyed taking walks around Guttenberg, watching sports on TV specifically the Chicago Cubs, bowling, boating and exercising his sense of humor with family and friends. Cecil was also a member of the Eagles Club in Guttenberg. Cecil will be forever missed by his wife of 36 years, Ivanelle of Guttenberg; children, Linda Kyle of Bullhead City AZ, Cecilia (Kerry) Coder of Winter Haven FL, Cathy (Perry) Sutherland of Somerset Wis; Deborah (Dave) Chisholm, Cheryl Stone both of Cedar Rapids; Glenn (Donna) Witham of Guttenberg and Patti (Terry) Drexler of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Mryna Christianson; one brother in infancy and a great granddaughter, Brandi Witham.Visitation: Monday 9:00 - 11:00 A.M.
