Cecilia Hoeger

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Cecilia E. Hoeger, 96, of Dyersville, Iowa died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Oakcrest Manor in Dyersville. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Avenue SW in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Luxemburg. Rev. Dale Rausch will officiate. Cecilia was born February 23, 1918 in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph G. and Theresa (Steffen) Rausch. She married Clarence L. Hoeger on September 27, 1938, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. She worked as a seamstress for many years, as well as being a homemaker. Cecilia was a member of the resurrection choir for many years. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. While living at the Ellen Kennedy Center, she cared for the flowers in the front of the building. Survivors include her son, Daniel (Marian) Hoeger of Dyersville, IA; daughter-in-law, Joanne (Tom) Oberbroeckling also of Dyersville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Merlin (Jean) Hermsen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 2002; 2 sons, Virgil Hoeger in 1963 and Robert Hoeger in infancy; siblings, Leona (Alphonse) Willenbring, Arnold (Dorothy) Rausch, Nickolas (Dorothy) Rausch, Arthur in infancy, Clarence (Florine) Rausch, Edward (Alice) Rausch, Aloysious (Mary) Rausch, Mildred (Arthur) Elenz, Urbain (Margaret) Rausch; in-laws, Sylvestor (Marie) Hoeger, Ambrose (Dorothy) Hoeger and Clara Hermsen. The family wishes to thank everyone at Oak Crest Manor for the wonderful care they gave Cecilia, especially, Diane, Deb and Brenda. Memorials are preferred.
