Obituary Chad Michael Kuehl, age 45, of Garber, IA, died Saturday, April 10, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospital due to complications of COVID-19. Chad Michael Kuehl was born on Sunday, February 15, 1976 at Central Elkader Hospital. Chad was Ed-Co High School Graduate of 1994. His first job was for Payne Concrete. Following the birth of his son Zac in 1997 Chad switched jobs to All American Homes in Dyersville and continued working for many years through the birth of his daughter Jordan in 1999. In 2003 he moved to Garber for a new beginning and met longtime girlfriend, Holly Schroeder and son Kole Schroeder which completed his family and they raised their children together. He continued to work for Rolfes Transport, Spahn & Rose, Assistant Manager for Midland Overhead Doors, and most currently was County Worker for Clayton County and part-time Trucker for Kelchen Grain. In Aug 2003 Chad found his true calling by joining the Garber Fire Department. He obtained certifications for Firefighter One and Two, Hazardous Material Operations, CPR, NIMS Training, and eventually was elected Fire Chief in 2012. Being a part of the Fire Fighter brotherhood was a near and dear to Chads heart. Chad enjoyed his time with all his family and friends and was a part of other organizations such as Garber City Council, Iowa Firefighters Association), Ed-Co Little League, and the Clayton County Fair Demo Derby. Chads favorite past times included farming with his friend Jared Groth, making his famous Apple and Cherry pie, Coyote hunting with Jon Houdek and his dogs Copper, Rocky, Meghan, & Janey. Raising calves and golfing with his father Donnie, Deer Hunting with the Bolsinger Deer Camp, ketchup with his meals, target practice with guns, coaching and attending his daughters softball games, and of course cheering on the Denver Broncos. Chad is survived by his children, Kole Schroeder of Garber, Zackery Kuehl of Des Moines, Jordan (Lane) Kuehl of Edgewood, and, his parents, Donnie (Mary) Kuehl of Edgewood, Shari (Mike H.) Ingles of Garber, two grandchildren Weston Lee Schroeder and Conor Oleary-Aerts. Chad is also survived by his siblings, brother Danny Kuehl of Edgewood, Sister Angie Kuehl of Elkader, brother-in-law Brad (Deb) Bolsinger of Manchester, one stepbrother Calvin (Brittney) Ingles of Greeley, one step-sister Crystal Ingles of Greeley, numerous aunts and uncles, and his girlfriend Amy Hartman of Manchester. Chad was a proud uncle of, Tanner (Sophia) Bolsinger, Tori (Logan) Bolsinger, Makena Kuehl, Kennedi Kuehl, Ciara Kuehl. Chad was also a proud god-parent to Tanner Bolsinger, Elsa Groth, and Ciara Kuehl. He was preceded in death by his step-father Richard Ingles and one grand-parent Milton Schroeder. Due to COVID-19 Concerns masks will be required at the funeral home and church. The funeral will be live streamed on St. Johns Congregational Church Facebook page and the Garber Fire Departments page. Following graveside services lunch will be at Elkport Community Center.
