Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, 3 sons: Kevin, Kurt (Marlene) and Karl all of North Buena Vista, IA., 5 daughters: Karen (Milo) Rolfe of Guttenberg, Kathy (Mark) Goetzinger, Kim (Mark) Tranel, Kristy (Daniel Brimeyer) Hefel all of Dubuque and Kelly (Mark Niehaus) Hefel of Clayton Center, IA., 12 grandchildren: Mike and Kevin Rolfe, Janna and Kayla Niehaus, Jill, Tim, Joe and Terry Hefel, Caden, Olivia and Alena Brimeyer and Amanda Meyer, 1 great grandchild, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rosella Spaeth, Clarence Blaser, Carol (Walter) Geary, Rosemary Blaser all of Mahnomen, MN., Mildred Jasken of Ogema, MN., Joseph (Shirley) Blaser of St Croix Falls,WI., Marjorie (Andy) Elsinger of Guttenberg, IA., Diane Botz of Minneapolis, MN., David (Carolyn) Blaser of Grandin, ND., and John (Linda) Blaser of Foston, MN., He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 brothers and sisters. Charles was born on November 20, 1924 in North Buena Vista, Iowa, the son of George and Mary Ann "Mayme" (Cook) Hefel. He graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1942. Charles obtained a teaching certificate and taught 1 year in a country school near Balltown. He married Lorraine Blaser on October 6, 1952 in Beaulieu, MN. Together they farmed the family farm until retirement in 1997.
