DYERSVILLE, IOWA Charles G. Termont, 91, of Dyersville, and formerly of Dubuque passed away Monday, January 14 2019, at his home in Dyersville. Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. and an American Legion service will be held at 7 pm. Visitation will continue from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to funeral services. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2019, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery where American Legion Post 137 will accord military honors. Rev. Ralph Davis will officiate and Deacon Roger Riesberg will assist. Charles was born August 6, 1927, in Moline, Illinois the son of Emil and Emma (Bultynck) Termont. He married Bernice Marie Vander Meersch August 28, 1948, in Sheffield, Illinois. He served in the Marines from 1945 – 1946, and began his career at John Deere in Moline and Dubuque as a designer engineer. He held many patents on heavy industrial equipment, specifically on end loaders. Charlie enjoyed spending time with family, volunteering at the Grand River Museum in Dubuque, playing cards and sharing stories of his days in the Marines and other travels throughout his career. Survivors include three children: David C. (Donna) Termont of Lino Lakes, MN, Rita M. (Fred) Cubbage of Apex, NC, Steven C. (Pamela) Termont-Schenk of Beachmere, Queensland, Australia, son-in-law, Deacon Roger (Kathy) Riesberg of Dyersville; 9 grandchildren: Sarah Ledbetter, Michael Termont, Matthew, Joseph, Edward Riesberg, Daniel and Douglas Cubbage, Emmaleigh and Jamon Termont-Schenk; 22 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Joanne (Mel) Davenport of Hemet, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bernice, a daughter, Jean T. Riesberg, a sister, Shirley (Jim) Passini, and in-laws: Dorothy (Frank) Martens, Joseph Vander Meersch in infancy, and Robert (Rosie) Vander Meersch. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque. The family would like to thank the staff at the Ellen Kennedy Living Center and Hospice of Dubuque, especially Edna and Jan, for the comforting care they provided during Charlie’s latest years.
