Clara Steffensmeier

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Clara Mae Steffensmeier, 86, of Dyersville died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Oak Crest Manor in Dyersville. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Monday, Dec. 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Clara was born May 6, 1930, in Luxemburg, Iowa the daughter of Hugo and Hilda (Willenbring) Menke. She married Eldon Steffensimeier on December 29, 1952, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Together they farmed near Dyersville. She enjoyed playing cards and talking with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Eldon, her children: Joan (Earl) Hosch of New Vienna, John (Nancy), Tom (Rose) and Pat (Laurie) Steffensmeier, all of Dyersville, and Carol (Jim) Meisgeier of Manchester; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; in-laws: Rosemary Menke of Dyersville, Fred (Andrea) Steffensmeier of Farley, Jim (Rita) Steffensmeier and Alice (Rick) Nadermann, Eugene Prier, Agnes Steffensmeier and Elaine Steffensmeier, all of Dyersville; Mary (Charlie) Hellman of Holy Cross. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Paula Hosch in infancy; brothers Anton (Rose) Menke, Victor Menke, Aloysius (Doris) Menke; in-laws; Gene (Helen) Steffensmeier, Florence (Joe) Meis, Lucille Prier, Art Steffensmeier, Donald Steffensmeier.
