Survivors include her son, Bruce (Sharon) Besler of Dyersville, 5 daughters: Barb (Terry) Shepard of Taylor, MI., Cheryl (Obie) Reid of Fuquay Varina, NC., Sandy (Steve) Menke of New Vienna, Linda (Mike) Schroeder and June (Bill) Hermsen both of Dyersville, 8 grandchildren: Sara (Alan) Finzel, Crystal (Pam Whorton) Shepard, Tara Shepard, Nicole (Darren) Ludwig, Carrie Besler, Michelle (Mark) Kipp, Chad (Angie Walker) Hillers and Tia (Ryan Ferrara) Hillers, 1 (soon to be expected) great grandchild, one sister, Alita (Alvin) Koeneke of Manchester and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Besler of Hopkinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmer in 1986, one brother, Clarence Riesberg, 4 sisters: Irene Kramer, Esther Riesberg, Liddie Cordeiro and JoAnne Riesberg in infancy. Kay was born on December 29, 1918 in New Vienna, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Eikens) Riesberg. She married Elmer G. Besler on August 24, 1953 in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they raised 6 children in the Dyersville area. Kay worked for many years in the catalog dept. at the J.C. Penney store in Dyersville. She lived a very active life and had many good friends. Kay loved her family tremendously and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by all. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 23, 2007, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse with Mr. Rodney Allers as homilist. Special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque (Dorothy & Sheila) for their excellent care, Cookie Scherrman, Sr. Marian and Rod Allers for their spiritual guidance, and to all her friends & neighbors for their care and support. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
