Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Dyersville, one son, Robert (Lois) Tauke of Cascade, Iowa, and one daughter, Sarah (Sam) Schmelzer of Asbury, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Renee Paylor, Andy Tauke, Amy and Angela Schmelzer; 1 great grandson, Antonio Paylor, and a sister, Leonette Wessels of Garnavillo, IA. He was preceded in death by a brother Clarence and a brother and sister in infancy. Clete was born on October 20, 1918 in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of William and Emma (Vaske) Tauke. He served in the Army from 1942-1945. He married Jeanette C. Bagge on May 24, 1948 in Petersburg, Iowa. Together they dairy farmed for nearly 40 years in the Garnavillo, Iowa area until the retired in Dyersville in 1984. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1734, the American Legion Post 137 of Dyersville and the 40/8 Voiture 584.
