Coletta D. Nieland

Coletta (Harbaugh) Nieland, age 82, of Guttenberg, IA, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born October 18, 1930, in Colesburg, IA to Lloyd and Genevieve (Kauffman) Harbaugh. Coletta received her education from the Colesburg Country School. On February, 13, 1946, Coletta was married to LaVern Nieland in Garnavillo. This union blessed them with seven children. For many years Coletta worked in her home while raising her children. She also worked for Ertl Toys, Muters, Guttenberg Button Factory; Rauschs Caf and later retired from John Deere Dubuque Works. Coletta loved to travel, trips to the casino, baking with her family especially at the holidays and attending the Clayton County Fair. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, TOPS and the Happy Homemakers. Coletta is survived by her five children; Mona (Tony) Adams, Jeff (Cathy) Nieland, Jennifer Lake, Robert Nieland and Roberta Nieland; 10 grandchildren, Misty, Vicky, Chris, Jessie, Stephanie, Christopher, Zachary, Jeremy, Nichole and Oceana; 5 great grandchildren, A.J., Phil, Colten, Caden, Brody and two on the way; siblings, Gary (Janice) Harbaugh and Richard Harbaugh; sisters in law, Arlene Harbaugh, Rosemary(Gordon) Neumann; brother in law Raymond (Dana) Nieland and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LaVern, sons, Delbert and Eugene Nieland; siblings, Eleanor Lewin, Shirley Berns, Jackie Scherf, George Harbaugh Sr., Lloyd Harbaugh Jr. and Carrol Harbaugh; sisters in law Armella (Kenneth) Nuehring, Sharon Harbaugh and Ivanelle Harbaugh; brothers in law, Elmer (Adele) Nieland, Oscar Cornwell, Robert Lewin and Kenneth Berns.In Lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, Coletta asks that memorials be sent to either St. Marys Catholic Church or the St. Marys Catholic School.Visitation: Friday 5:00 - 7:30 P.M.
