Colleen Walters

Colleen A. Walters, 91, of Colesburg died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Colesburg, Iowa with burial in Brown Cemetery in Colesburg. Rev. Stephen Lundgren will officiate. Colleen was born April 19, 1922, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of John and Anna (Reittinger) Hittemiller. She graduated from Xavier High School with the class of 1939 and worked as the telephone operator in Dyersville. She married Layton A. Walters on September 22, 1949, in Colesburg, Iowa. Together they farmed north of Colesburg where she enjoyed cats and Pomeranian dogs. Survivors include her children: Cheryl Walters of Dyersville, Jay (Mary) and Randy (Carol) Walters both of Garber, 3 grandsons: Gary, Ryan and Collin Walters, all of Garber, one brother-in-law, Gerald "Bill" (Lois) Walters of Colesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Layton in 1998, siblings: Priscilla Hittemiller, Mello and Wilfred Hittemiller, in-laws: Dale (Margaret), Kenneth (Leona), Ted (Bernice) and Wayne (Bernice) Walters and Mary (Dale) Learn, Bernice (Bill) Kubicek, Freda (Julius) Wittman-Swanson, Majory Wallace-Peters and April (Wallace) Finnegan. Donations preferred to Colesburg Ambulance.
