Curtis Noack

Curtis Allyn Noack, age 73, of Guttenberg left us to be with Our Lord on the morning of July 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Curt was born in rural Garber to Lester and Pauline (Waterman) Noack on December 11, 1940. He was united in marriage to Linda Kay Shaw on June 6, 1981 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Curt attended Mound School through 5th grade, and then finished his education at the Guttenberg High School where he graduated with the class of 1958. Making music was always the passion of his life, beginning with accordion lessons in the 6th grade. In high school, he played french horn and snare drums in the marching band. Curt also enjoyed playing bass violin, steel guitar and piano. After high school, he started his music career playing piano and steel guitar with the Ray Alto Band. He later joined Bobbe Hankins and the Blue Boys playing the steel guitar, piano and bass violin. While playing with Bobbe Hankins, the band opened for many well known artists such as Johnny Cash, Stonewall Jackson, Wanda Jackson and Dave Dudley. Curt was also one of the founding members of The Sounds of Nashville, and ended his musical career playing with Southern Comfort. Curt worked briefly at Trademark Homes in Guttenberg before beginning a 30 year career as an electrical engineer with John Deere in Dubuque. After retiring in 1995, he continued his familys tradition of RV traveling to the south. He and Linda spent, many months each year at Casa Grande, their favorite resort in Arizona, where they enjoyed spending time with their numerous camping friends. They were so happy to have accomplished their goal of visiting 49 out of the 50 states. Curt is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Linda; four children, Kelly Mendez, Kym (Curt) Salow both of Independence, Krista (Wayne) Walton of Littleton, CO, Jeff (Maren Reed) Hallberg of McGregor; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Larry (Marian) Noack of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and son in law, Nicolas Mendez. Curtis infectious smile and sense of humor will be remembered by his many friends and family.Memorial Service: Friday 10:00 A.M.
