David Cullen

David Kenneth Cullen, age 62, of Ankeny, IA, died Monday, February 2, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines after a long illness. He was born the son of Kenneth George and Joyce (Evarts) Cullen on October 13, 1946 in Dubuque Iowa. David attended school in Dubuque and received one year of education from Kirkwood Community College. He proudly served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged on November 27th 1968. On February 27, 1971, David married Laura Hyde at the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg. They later moved to Ankeny where he worked as a computer operator for Caseys for many years. Together they raised two daughters. When David wasnt working he enjoyed spending time with his family or watching the history channel. He had an extensive knowledge of the civil war and had a very impressive collection of civil war items. Davids memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 37 years, Laura Cullen of Ankeny; two daughters, Heather (Scott) Elick of South Bend, Ind. and Shannon Cullen of Ankeny; two granddaughters Gabriel and Brynne; one brother, Tom (Sandy) Cullen of Dubuque and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Richard.Visitation: Wednesday 5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
