David L. Lechner

David L. Lechner, age 48 of Guttenberg, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2016 at Circle of Life Missions in Strawberry Point after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born July 16, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Rev. Ludolph Lechner and Jane Lechner of Guttenberg. He is survived by his mother, Jane Lechner; sister, Linda (Ken) Dettbarn, two nephews, Sean (Lana) Dettbarn and Nicholas Dettbarn; two great nephews, Gavin and Nolan; and many loved ones and close friends. He graduated in 1986, from Galena High School in Galena, Illinois and obtained his Paramedic training from Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL. David worked at Walt Disney World as a lifeguard, paramedic and then as a general manager. He loved to tell people "Have a Magical day". He also drove truck for Werner Enterprises and then later trained other drivers. He tended bar at The Sawmill Resort in Orlando and The Stadium in Guttenberg. David was a very talented pianist and enjoyed playing in the bell choir at St. Johns Lutheran Church in both Guttenberg and Mineola, IA. He was very involved in the Imperial Court of Nebraska. David touched the lives of many with his kindness and he was passionate about being a storm chaser. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
