Decellis Berns

Decellis Albert Berns was born the son of Albert O. and Alma (Steglich) Berns on August 30, 1925, on the home farm near National. He passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 8, 2006. Decellis attended country school in National and then graduated from the Garnavillo High School. He then spent many years working for John Deere Dubuque Works. On September 21, 1948, he was united in marriage with Lillian Titlbach at St. Gabriels Church in Prairie Du Chien. To this union they were blessed with two children. Decellis enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and spending time outdoors. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Lillian; one daughter, Debra (Ambrose) Heisler of Farley; one son, Albert Berns of Luxemburg; two grandchildren, Jessica and Adam Rhodes; two brothers, Leander Berns of St. Petersburg FL and Ivan Berns of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mardella and Marcella; one brother in law Ervin Hoeger.Visitation: Tuesday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
