Donald J. Baum, 71, of Marshalltown, Iowa and formerly of Dyersville died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where American Legion Post 137 will gather at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 137. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Donald was born on May 8, 1943 in Monticello, Iowa the son of Jerome and Velma (Arduser) Baum. He graduated from Xavier High School and served in the US Navy from 1961-1965 on a submarine. Survivors include his son, Travis Niehaus of Lake Delhi, brothers: William (Barbara) Baum of Dubuque, Jay (Kathy) Baum of Vero Beach, FL, Loras (Betty) Baum of Dyersville and many nieces and nephews.
