Donald Francis Berns

Obituary Donald Francis Berns age 81, of Garnavillo, IA, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at Elkader Care Center in Elkader, IA. Don was born July 25, 1936 in Monona Iowa the son of Raymond and Mae (Farmer) Berns, he attended high school graduating with the class of 1954. Don entered into the United States Army Serving from October 1955 until his discharge in October of 1958. Don met and married the love of his life Carolyn Klinkenberg on October 24, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo, to this union two children were born Lee and Dee. Don spent most of his life farming the land that he raised his family on. He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life; his children and his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Lee Berns of Garnavillo, Dee Hense of Strawberry Point, Grandchildren; NaTasha, Dustin (fianc Kara Winch), Dalton Berns, Matthew Hense; one great grand-daughter Adaline Marie Berns, three sisters; Marilyn (Jim) Kann of Garnavillo, Jane (David) Siegel of Cedar Rapids, Jeanette (Pat) Thein of Colesburg plus many other nieces, nephews; relatives and friends.
