Donald Francis Rohner

Obituary Donald Francis Rohner, age 88, of Guttenberg, IA, died Friday, October 8, 2021, at Guttenberg Care Center. He was born on July 8, 1933 in Elkader, IA, the son of Frank and Irene (Miller) Rohner. Don received his education in Garnavillo where he graduated with the class of 1951. This past May was his 70th high school anniversary. From November 1953 through September 1955, Don served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On February 23, 1957, Don was united in marriage with Janice Berns at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Garnavillo. Don was a former member of many organizations including; Knights of Columbus, Eagles Club, Guttenberg Country Club, Guttenberg Park Board & Clayton County Fair Board. Don was able to winter in Mission, TX for 30 years. Don will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of almost 65 years, Janice; 4 children, Cindy Troester, Jeff (Julie) Rohner, Karla (Bob Myers) Vogel & Sandy (Fred) Witte; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 siblings, David "Butch" Rohner, Dorothy Wendell and many other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Rohner; daughter, Karen Wachendorf; grandson, Travis Rohner; 3 sisters, Marie Benskin, Betty Tapke, Marcella Dodge. In Lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy the family requests memorials to go to St. Croix Hospice 101 Elkader St. Strawberry Point, IA 52076.
