Donald Ralph Moser passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Donald was born into the family of Ralph Rudolph and Opal Irene (Borrett) Moser March 31, 1927. The family lived on Skip Level road near Colesburg, Iowa but Donald was born in a home near Osterdock, Iowa. His mother died when Donald was almost four years of age. This resulted in Donald and his brother, Curtis, growing up with William and Jessie (Kolker) Borrett. Donalds sister, Lois, grew up in the Francis and Ella (Moser) Troester home. Donald attended the Cherry Valley country school, Colesburg Consolidated school, Millville school, and Guttenberg High School graduating in 1944. He then attended the University of Dubuque, Hertzl JC, University of Iowa and the naval school of Electronics in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was an Electronics repairman in the U.S. Navy. He was offered the position of operating a naval electronics school but refused. January 17, 1947 he married Betty Ruth Troester in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa. They celebrated 68 years of marriage. Mr. Moser was a farmer, director of the Farm Bureau, director of the Selective Service System, secretary of the Millville Telephone system, and president of the Guttenberg School Board. The couple farmed for twenty-five years after which Donald worked for a feed mill, sold buildings in Wisconsin, worked for Hobart Corporation in Davenport, Confinement Specialists in Kalona, Wahlert packinghouse in Dubuque, and Products Unlimited in Guttenberg. He was proud and gratified to be part of the Honor Flight to Washington, DC two years ago. Donald is survived by children, Jay (Kay) Moser of Elkader, Iowa; Wynette (Stanley) Koehn of Guttenberg, Iowa; Tab (Deborah) Moser of Altoona, Iowa and Stacy (Kari) Moser, Elkader, Iowa: seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Jenna) Moser, Jonathon (Cheri) Moser, Trevor (Melissa) Koehn, Malissa Koehn and special friend, Jeff, Aaron (Emily) Moser, Nick and Samantha Moser; eight great-grandchildren, Brett and Kaitlyn Koehn, Mariah, Taryn, Trace, Gretel Moser, Kenley and Adelaide Moser; sister, Lois (Jason) White of Independence, MO; nieces Regina (Craig) Eufinger of Cole Creek, MO, Kris Moser of Davenport, IA, Eugenia (Dale) Perry of Burnsville, MN, and Eileen (Jim) Terril of Blue Springs, MO; nephews Paul (Kathy) Krieg of Guttenberg, and Jason (Joyce) White of Independence, MO. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, his step mother Geneva Brown, brother Curtis, sisters-in-law Rosemary Moser, Lydia Krieg and brother-in-law Eugene Krieg.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Guttenberg Ambulance, Guttenberg Fire Department or Dollars for Scholars.Visitation: Thursday 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.
