Donald Tuecke

Donald Clarence Tuecke was born the son of Everd and Opal (Noack) Tuecke, April 22, 1932, on the family farm near Guttenberg. He died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA Don received his education locally and at the age of 14 he lived with his Uncle Irvin and Aunt Evelyn Walter and worked on their farm, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On February 14, 1955, he was united in marriage with Betty Jean Miller at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Guttenberg. He was a trucker, hauling milk and livestock and was employed by Clayton County Road Maintenance until his retirement. Don was a member of Clay-Gar American Legion Post #723 and Brotherhood at St. Peters Church. Don was a quiet person, loved his home and family. Enjoyed feeding the birds deer hunting, gardening, traveling, his favorite area was the Yellowstone Park, Colorado Rockies. He also enjoyed decorating the yard for the Christmas holidays and country music. He met Betty at Lakeside Ballroom, their first dance together was Tennessee Waltz. They went to Nashville Grand Ole Opra for their honeymoon. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty; one daughter, Penny (Gary) Handke of Brandon; two sons, Donald (Pam) Tuecke Jr. of Dubuque and Lyle & (friend, Bill Enke) Tuecke of Mc Gregor; four grandchildren, Melissa Benson, Todd (Karen) Tuecke, Holly (Justin) Sipes and Cassie (Charles) Gruman; six great-grandchildren, Kristine Tuecke, Austin Benson, Coltrane Sipes, Averi Spies, Jakolby Sipes and Maria; three sisters, Darlene (Floyd) Dutka of Guttenberg, Verla (Robert) Bente, and Esther Fehlhafer of Garnavillo; two brothers, Louis (Velma) Tuecke of Garnavillo and Everd (Shirley) Tuecke of Guttenberg: and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was precede in death by his parents, one sister, Lorna, one brother, Delmer, two sister-in-laws, Jean Tuecke and Janet Tuecke, one brother-in-law, Lee Fehlhafer, and special pets, Rascal the terrier and Snickers and Misty the cats.Visitation: 4-7 PM Tuesday October 30, 2007 at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo and one hour before service at church.Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday October 31, 2007 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, GarnavilloInterment: Guttenberg City Cemetery Service Information A service summary is not available
