Donna Thier

Donna M. (Offermann) Thier passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the age of 76 after an 8 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 18, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Donna was born February 11, 1940 the daughter of Art and Kathryn (Quint) Offermann in Earlville, Iowa. She married Al Thier on June 7, 1960 in Earlville, Iowa. Together they farmed northeast of Dyersville until retirement. Al preceded her in death on December 24, 2004. Donna enjoyed gardening, lawn work, crocheting, cooking and baking. She loved sending treats home when you’d stop by. She was a former member of the Resurrection Choir and the Layette. She also helped prepare meals at the Senior Center until she became ill. Surviving are her 5 children: Larry (Melissa) Thier of Farley, Kathy (Kevin) Mensen of Dyersville, Patrick (Karen) Thier of Olympia, WA, Suzanne (Kerwin) Burt of Waterloo and Karolyn Thier of Dyersville, 9 grandchildren: Douglas, Rob and Brad Mensen, Trey, Kalen and Sierra Burt, Joshua Thier, Ben Neuzil, Ally Holttum, 3 great grandchildren: Gabe and Evie Mensen, Anna Hentges, 2 brothers: Laverne (Mary Jane) Offermann of Earlville and Don Offermann of Dubuque. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Al, an infant son, Carl, sister-in-law, Hazel Offermann, in-laws: Cletus and Richard (Mildred) Thier, Virginia (Ray) Gross and Don (Mary) Thier. Donna’s family would like to thank Edna with Hospice of Dubuque.
