Earl Tegeler

Earl is survived by his companion of many years, Helen Krogman of Dyersville; three daughters: Karen (Brian) Brown of Olathe, KS, Linda (Dan) Hoerner of Dubuque and Janice (Mark) Furst of Ft. Atkinson, WI.; two sons: Mark (Deb) Tegeler and Gary Tegeler all of Dyersville; seven grandchildren: Jeff ( Cindy) Tegeler, Britta, Tenley and Gretchen Haraldson, Jodi Tegeler, Carlie and Greta Hoerner; one great grandchild, Max Tegeler; one step - grandson: Scott Brown; one brother: Herb (Annie) Tegeler of Dyersville; three sisters-in-law: Irene Kramer of Dyersville, Mildred Kramer of Hopkinton and Mary Kramer of Manchester; Helen's children: Barb (Dan) Conlan of Dubuque, JoAnn (Pat) Roe of Waterloo, Patty Erhler (Don Schumacher) of Dubuque, Steve (Deb) Krogman of Manchester and Edward (Sandy) Krogman of Anamosa; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Edna Madison and Alma Manley, and two brothers; Elmer F. and Bill Tegeler. Earl was born on April 18, 1918 in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Gerhard and Rosa (Kerkhoff) Tegeler. He was educated in the Dyersville area schools. He served in the United States Army from 1941-1946. After returning from WWII, he purchased a blacksmith shop from John Goetzinger. The building on 2nd St. S.E. was known as "The Old Brewery". He remodeled the building and began dairy production in 1949, continuing the business his father had begun in 1924. He owned and operated Tegeler's Dairy until his retirement in 1985. On April 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rosemary "Rosie" Kramer at St. Francis Xavier Church in Dyersville. She preceded him in death on August 23, 1979. Throughout his life, Earl enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. A memorial fund has been established. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Dr. Callahan, Dr. Miner of Dyersville Family Practice, Hospice of Dubuque, Marie Beals and to Dr. Ahern.
