Edna Hess

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Marlene Hess of Dyersville, 3 grandchildren: Shelly Hess, Jenni (Jon) Merkes and Cory Hess, 3 great grandchildren: Mikaylah, Austin and Emma a brother-in-law Cyril (Cecelia) Hess, and two sisters-in-law, Rita Mae (Joe) LeGrand and Rita Catherine LeGrand. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, 3 sons: Donald, David and Steven, a daughter Mary, 5 brothers: Nicholas, Victor, Albert, Raymond, Joseph LeGrand and 2 sisters Marie Steffen and Evelyn LeGrand. Edna was born on December 14, 1911 in Holy Cross, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Catherine (Berg) LeGrand. She married Clarence Hess on April 14, 1936 in Holy Cross where they farmed until retiring about 1970. Edna loved cooking, playing bingo and playing cards with her family. She endured the loss of her entire family during her lifetime. Her strong Catholic faith carried her through.
