Eileen Meder

Eileen Rose Meder died suddenly Saturday, December 15, 2007, on her way home from mass. Eileen was born to Alphonse and Antonette Wegman on October 18, 1928 at Petersburg. She grew up on the farm near Petersburg in a large family of 9 Children. She went to Xavier Catholic School in Dyersville and Dubuque Cosmetology School. She worked perming and styling hair in Dubuque, when she met and married John "Jack" Meder on November 26, 1952 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Petersburg. The couple moved to Guttenberg four years later where Jack operated Meder Motor Sales. After raising five young children, Eileen worked at Utah Speaker and Guttenberg Care Center as a cook and dining room helper for 15 years. She loved her family and enjoyed playing cards with them. She will be sadly missed by her children Sharon and Rick Wittman of Guttenberg; Sandy Meder of Friendswood, Texas; Steven Meder and Monica DeShaw both of Elkader; Kevin Meder of Guttenberg; and Ken Meder of Lake Ozark, Mo.; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Pfeiler of Dyersville; Harriet and Leon Maiers of Holy Cross; Ralph and Leonna Wegman of Farley; Ambrose "Butch" and Pat Wegman of Delhi; and LuAnn and Bob Mescher of Edgewood. Preceding her in death was her husband, John "Jack" Meder; her parents; one sister, Armella Wiefrich; two brothers, Johnny and Alvin; two sisters-in-law, Sally Wegman and Vicky Wegman; and three brothers-in-law, Larry Wiefrich, Emmet Pfeiler and Art Esch.Visitation: 4 - 7 PM Monday December 17, 2007 at Tuecke-Allyn GuttenbergFuneral Service: 10 AM Tuesday December 18, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, GuttenbergInterment: Mt.
