Eldon Gravel

Eldon L. Gravel, 86 of Dyersville, Iowa died Friday, June 3, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Eldon was born June 26, 1929 in Worthington, the son of Phillip and Rosella (Boge) Gravel. He married Lorraine Roling on June 16, 1953 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Eldon was a compassionate caring person, providing stewardship to the land he loved and guidance for his family to carry on his legacy of love for the land and life. He was a great dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. Survivors include his wife Lorraine, children: Beverly (Charlie) Rahe of Petersburg, Ellen (Randy) Wulfekuhle of Manchester, Gail (Ron) Bonert, Carol (Ron) Hermsen, Linda Gaul and Karl (Deb) Gravel all of Dyersville, Kevin (Sandy) Gravel of New Vienna, MJ Gravel (Brian Talbot) of South Pasadena, CA, Brian (Jane) Gravel of Burlington, 30 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, in-laws: Mary Lou Gravel, Eileen (Leon) Wessels of Dyersville, Ula Roling of Earlville, and Elaine Roling of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Eric John Gravel, brother, Loras Gravel, nephew, Daniel Gravel.
