Elizabeth Schlimmer

MONTICELLO, IOWA Elizabeth “Betty” Schlimmer, 96, of Monticello, died Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center, Monticello, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. A continued visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday prior to funeral services at church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello, and Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate. A burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery following her funeral services. Betty was born on December 1, 1920, the daughter of Anton and Florence (Parrott) Wroblewski in Monticello. She married Donald Schlimmer on June 24, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church, together they raised three children, Jack, Jean, and Tom. Betty worked for Northwestern Bell and later Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. She liked to do ceramics, crafts, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends, especially during the holidays. Survivors include her son Jack Schlimmer (Pat Poyer) of Lincoln, NE, daughter-in-law Susan (Gerald) Beitz of Monticello, 6 grandchildren; Renee (Robert) Petr, Jackie (Dan) Fitzgerald both of Kenesaw, NE, Christina (Kelly) Bush of Hopkinton, Angie (Eric) Farmer of Monticello, Josh Schlimmer (Cecelia Trenkamp) of Cedar Rapids, Eli Beitz of Monticello, 10 great- grandchildren, 2 great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; 2 children, Jean Wilson and Tom Schlimmer, siblings, Helen (Les) Weis and Vincent Wroblewski.
