Ernest H. Wulfekuhle, 80, of Dyersville formerly of Petersburg died Friday, April 14, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, 750 12th Ave. SW. A continued visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 9 until 10 a.m. prior to funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Ernie was born June 2, 1936 in Earlville, the son of Gregory and Cecelia (Bonert) Wulfekuhle. He married the love of his life JoAnn Cavagna at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Portland, OR on August 6, 1966. Ernest and JoAnn moved on their family farm north of Petersburg after their marriage and remained there until his retirement in 2006. Ernie's life centered around his love of farming, but most importantly, family. He cherished time spent with his friends, wife, kids, and grandkids. Ernie's generosity was evident in his involvement in his church parish and Beckman Catholic High School. Survivors include his wife JoAnn, 3 children: Kim Baumler (fiancé Vern Isaac) of Dyersville, Craig (Karen) Wulfekuhle of Petersburg, Kari (Korey) Stillman of Marion, daughter-in-law, Lila Wulfekuhle of Dubuque, grandchildren: Danielle and Cody Baumler of Dyersville, Amie Conrad, Emily, Charley and Zachary Wulfekuhle of Petersburg, Addison and Malorie Stillman of Marion, brother, Joe (Pat) Wulfekuhle of Petersburg, sisters: JoAnn (Eddie) Loeffelholz of Dyersville, Darlene (Joe) Szymusik of Rescue, CA, mother-in-law, Amalia Pienovi of Milwaukie, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott P. Wulfekuhle, father-in-law, Joe Cavagna, brother-in-law, John Cavagna, and step-fathers-in-law, David Williams and John Pienovi. Memorials are preferred to Beckman Catholic School. Special thank you to all the nurses and Dr.s from Medical Associates, Mercy Hospital in Dubuque and University of Iowa Hospital that took such good care of Ernie with love & compassion.
